Artistic Ventures in Dance presents: GATHER in Telluride, CO
Experience dance like never before! Join us for on July 11th for an inspiring evening of movement, creativity, and community, showcasing a world premiere, new music & iconic legacy work.
You are also invited to step behind-the-scenes before the show on July 10th for an intimate look at how AVID brings ballet to life.
In an exciting world premiere, AVID presents Melody Mennitie’s, The Wolff, a retelling of the classic Little Red Riding Hood tale, in which Nature narrates the ballet through kinesthetic storytelling, and the audience is to question traditional societal stories.
Also on the program is Daniel Ojeda's crowd-pleasing new work, The Center Does Not Hold, which seeks to understand the dynamics of extreme polarization in dance - a purely aesthetic art form or a purely human experience. The Center Does Not Hold features an original score performed live by composer and double bassist Kebra-Seyoun Charles.

Finally, audiences will experience Gerald Arpino’s Valentine, a quirky and humorous look at the battle of the sexes using a boxing arena as the setting for staccato and contemporary movement. (Performed by courtesy of the Arpino Foundation).

Catch a sneak peek of The Wolff before it premieres by joining us for an intimate open dress rehearsal on July 10.
You’ll get to watch dancers rehearse with Arpino Foundation repetiteur Valerie Madonia (and former dancer with Joffery Ballet, American Ballet Theater & National Ballet of Canada) and hear how each piece is crafted to connect performers and audience.
Live music, dance, lights bites and drinks will make the evening one to remember!
